Shield Pinlock Guide
Shield & Insert
Finder
Find the exact replacement face shield and Pinlock anti-fog insert for your helmet. Jump to your brand, then pick your model’s shield code.
1. Read the code on your current shield
Most premium shields have their fitment code etched into the polycarbonate, usually near the top corner — for example CWR-F2 (Shoei), HJ-26 (HJC), or VAS-V (Arai). Match that code to the collections above.
2. Or look up your helmet model
Shields are model-specific. If you know your helmet’s exact model name, find it in the brand sections above — each shield set lists the helmets it fits.
3. Choose your Pinlock anti-fog grade
A Pinlock insert is a second lens that locks inside a Pinlock-ready shield to stop fogging. They come in three grades:
- Pinlock 30 — everyday anti-fog for mild conditions.
- Pinlock 70 — the most popular all-round grade.
- Pinlock 120 — maximum fog resistance for cold and wet riding.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know which shield fits my helmet?
Either read the code etched near the top corner of your current shield, or find your helmet’s model collection — each model page links to the exact shield and Pinlock insert that fits it. The brand sections above also list which helmets each shield fits.
What is a Pinlock insert and do I need one?
A Pinlock is a second inner lens that locks into a Pinlock-ready shield and virtually eliminates fogging. If you ride in cold, wet, or humid conditions it’s well worth it. Your shield must have the small Pinlock pins inside the lens to use one.
What’s the difference between Pinlock 30, 70 and 120?
The number is the anti-fog grade — higher resists fog longer. 30 is light-duty, 70 is the popular all-rounder, and 120 is maximum fog resistance for cold and wet riding.
Can I put a tinted or photochromic shield on my helmet?
Yes, as long as it’s the correct shield code for your model. Many collections include clear, tinted, mirrored, and photochromic (light-reactive) options. Note that tinted shields are intended for daytime use.
Are shields and inserts interchangeable between brands?
No. Shields are specific to a brand’s shield platform and often to particular models. Always match the exact shield code or your helmet model.
